There are many places to dine with your furry best friend in Charleston. Depending on what area of the Lowcountry you live in or the area you have decided to spend some vacation time, we’ve compiled a list of pet-friendly restaurants. The following are just a few of Oceanside Veterinary Clinic’s favorites!
Ellis Creek
Ellis Creek is located on the marsh with a large outdoor dining area where you can comfortably dine with your canine friends. As BringFido also recommends, “patrons can fill their bellies with mouthwatering options like ceviche, catfish bites, oyster po’boys, crab cake sandwiches, shrimp and grits, fried flounder, and lobster tails. Be sure to ask for their Tail Waggin Menu consisting of tasty treats such as beef stew, salmon plate, and a dessert from King of Pups.” Ellis Creek Fish Camp is open seven days a week from 11:30 am to 9 pm with brunch on the weekends.
Mex 1 Coastal Cantina
Looking for Charleston’s best tacos and margaritas? Mex 1 Coastal Cantina is known for its beach vibes and casual edgy locations. If you are on Sullivan’s Island, be sure to pop in with your pup to enjoy one of Charleston’s award-winning margaritas and a blend of Baja-style cuisine on the deck. You’ll be sure to get the vacation escape from daily life that you’re looking for.
The Barrel
Enjoy marsh views and open access to the Sucessionville Creek at this James Island establishment offering craft beer and food trucks from 4-9 on Wednesdays through Sundays. This is a place for water lovers and has a large fenced area with a separate pen for smaller dogs. Be sure to read their dog rules before hitting their unleashed backyard.
Tobin’s Market
Enjoy food, wine, and live music with your pups at one of Charleston’s new backyard party locations. Tobin’s Market was just voted 2021’s “Best New Bar in Charleston.” Their open-aired courtyard offers live music every day and is a hot spot for pet owners downtown.
Tattooed Moose
There are eight dog-friendly tables at Tattooed Moose of John’s Island. With a large selection of craft beers and brews from around the world, this is a hot place to be. You’ll find many furry friends attending brunch on the weekends.
Edmund’s Oast Brewing Company
This downtown taproom and brewery is a casual place with outdoor seating options on the patio or in their expansive courtyard and astroturf field. You’ll find plenty of people enjoying happy hour at this trendy spacious and pet-friendly spot. Check out their options here.
DIG
DIG in The Park and the Daniel Island Grill are known for their large outdoor patios in Charleston. “They adopted the tagline “Family, Friends & Fun” to represent the atmosphere and philosophy they have grown to master.” It’s a great spot to enjoy the beautiful Lowcountry weather with your furry best friends.
Lost Dog
Lost Dog Cafe is an Oceanside Veterinary Clinic favorite, located just a few miles from our Clinic on Folly Beach. This bright and cheery place has outdoor seating, welcoming your dogs. Expect a long wait at this laid-back beach cafe due to its popular all-day breakfast, coffee, sandwiches, and its dog walls of fame.
