Now that the fall weather is upon us, everyone wants to spend their evenings outside — pets included. Luckily, there is no shortage of pet-friendly events in Charleston and we’ve made it easy by putting together a brief list of where you and your pup should venture this season.
Farmer’s markets are the ideal place to take your pets on a stroll while also browsing through the many vendors yourself. From local produce to live entertainment, there is nothing that your dog can’t enjoy alongside you on these Saturday mornings! In fact, you might look out of place if you don’t bring your furry friend. You can learn more about both the Charleston Farmers Market and the West Ashley Farmers Market by visiting their website.
West Ashley Farmers Market
Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 3-7:00 p.m.
Charleston Farmers Market
Saturday, Oct. 5 (and every Sat. through Nov.) from 8-2:00 p.m.
Paws on the Patio
Charleston Animal Society is partnering with Burtons Grill to host a happy hour (or yappy hour) in the Mount Pleasant Towne Center on October 10th and November 14th from 6-8 p.m. The event is intended to raise money for the Charleston Animal Society and their mission to shelter and rehabilitate animals. Tickets to Paws on the Patio are $25 a person, which includes two drinks, an appetizer buffet, and party favor for every four-legged attendee!
Low Country Golden Retriever Meet-Up
The Grateful Golden Retriever Rescue of the Low Country (GGLRLC) is an organization that strives to rescue and rehabilitate Golden Retrievers from the South Carolina Lowcountry, Grand Strand, and Coastal Georgia areas. They’ll be partnering with The Barrel to host a meet-up event on Saturday, October 19 from 3-7 p.m. consisting of food trucks, live music, and raffles. (And of course, bringing your own pup is encouraged!)
While there are certainly places and events that aren’t entirely pet-friendly in the Holy City, there are just as many that are. Whether you’re out to enjoy the weather and browse through the shops or you’re looking to help out a local organization with a great cause, you’ll be doing man’s best friend a favor by taking them along for the ride.
